With the massiveness of Attack on Titan's final season, there are rumors it may not fit in the number of episodes Attack on Titan Season 4 has. So, anime news leakers believe there will be a new Attack on Titan film that will officially put the saga to a close.

Attack on Titan Season 4 will finally begin on Monday, December 7. Its creator, Hajime Isayama, earlier revealed he is already one to two percent close to complete the manga's story, and it will be out in 2021.

As the anime version will end in Season 4, there are questions on how the manga series's remaining chapters will be adapted. From here, the rumors about the new Attack on Titan movie come in.

According to Monsters & Critics, the anime series' final season will only have 16 episodes, although there are 45 chapters left to adapt. Comicbook noted that when the official Blu-Ray info of Attack on Titan Season 4 went live, it revealed it would only have two Blu-ray volumes with eight episodes each.

If the new MAPPA studio tries to squeeze these 45 chapters into just 16 episodes, it will surely upset fans. So, there are theories that the fourth season will be divided into two parts and feature more episode installments.

In fact, the anime's sound director, Masafumi Mimi, and Netflix Japan revealed there would be Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 1, hinting at the possibility of having a Part 2. However, it remained to be seen if the new season would indeed be a split-cour.

In a series of tweets, anime news leaker Alter DAC claimed the anime's final season would be the end of everything. So, one episode may feature two chapters to tell the entire story.

The fourth season will also cover "exactly" what the trailer showed. On Saturday, December 5, Alter DAC added the final season was still in production, so everything was still up in the air.

The then said that it might be more probable if Season 4 would close off with chapter 122. Later, he claimed an Attack on Titan movie is needed to end the series officially.

Japanese networks have some strict regulations when it comes to public broadcasting. Knowing how "explicitly violent" Attack on Titan Season 4's last arc will be, the series sequel may not be in a TV format. So, it may be more pleasing if there will be an Attack on Titan movie that will officially close the series.
