Korean netizens are angered over the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Award's double standard for actors and idols who were invited to the event.

According to a report by All Kpop, fans of many idol groups were outraged after seeing posts by some celebrities on social media. While some actors were lounging comfortably in their waiting rooms and dining on delicious catered food, many of the idols were shown waiting in the parking lot and preparing in their cars.

Among those who were spotted preparing while they were in the car were SEVENTEEN's Jun and GOT7's Youngjae. The photo posted on SEVENTEEN's official page showed Jun while he was waiting inside the car. Youngjae was also shown getting his make up done in the backseat of GOT7's vehicle. Several idols were also shown standing around in the parking lot.

However, what irked the fans the most was that while the idols were suffering in the public space, actors had private waiting rooms assigned to them and even had their names posted on the door.

Fans complained that it was the idols who were bringing in the money for the event, and yet they were being treated like second-class citizens.

They also said that MAMA should have taken care of the singers more because it was an award show for singers. Some fans found it weird that the actors were being treated like royalty when they were only invited to hand out the awards to the idols.

During the 2020 MAMA, BTS led the award winners by bagging the Daesang Award for Album of the Year, Best Dance Performance for a Male Group, and Best Music Video for "Dynamite." They were also recognized as Icon of the Year.

BLACKPINK bagged three awards, including Best Female Group, Best Dance Performance for Female Group for "How You Like That" and a spot for Worldwide Fan's Choice.

Baekhyun bagged the award for Best Male Artist while IU took home Best Vocal Performance and Best Collab for "Eight," which she performed with BTS' Suga. MAMAMOO's Hwasa was honored for Best Dance Performance for "Maria."

Rookie groups TREASURE and Weeekly took home the prizes for Best New Male Artist and Best New Female Artist. Zico, who is currently serving his mandatory enlistment, won Best Hip-Hop/R&B while Pdogg became Best Producer at this year's MAMA. Big Hit CEO Bang Si Hyuk received honors for Best Executive Producer, PinkVilla reported.
