BLACKPINK won big at the recently concluded 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) after being ignored by two previous award-giving bodies.

According to a report by South China Morning Post, BLACKPINK won three awards at the 2020 MAMA. BLACKPINK took home the prize for Best Female Group, and Best Dance Performance (Female Group) for "How You Like That."

Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rose also took home an award for being part of the Top 10 Worldwide Fans' Choice. They shared the award with BTS, NCT, SEVENTEEN, rookie group TREASURE, TXT, GOT7, ATEEZ, MAMAMOO, and TWICE.

This comes as good news for BLACKPINK after the YG-managed girl group was shut out by the Asia Artist Awards and APAN Awards during their recent award-giving events.

BLINKs recently complained about the unfairness of leaving out BLACKPINK from the list of awardees when part of the criteria for winning in different categories was album sales and digital downloads, which BLACKPINK excelled in, given their performance in global and local charts this year.

BLACKPINK had a stellar comeback year for 2020, making up for staging only one comeback in 2019. This year, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose made three major comebacks and promoted heavily not only in South Korea but globally, despite restrictions because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through online events and appearances, they appeared and performed in US talk shows. They even headlined the first Netflix documentary about Kpop entitled Light Up the Sky. The positive reception for the film led to calls for a sequel.

As the year winds down to its final days, BLACKPINK continues to deliver more large scale projects for their fans. It was recently reported by Bandwagon that YG Entertainment announced BLACKPINK's first virtual concert entitled THE SHOW which will happen on December 27.

According to the report, fans will be able to watch THE SHOW  by availing of a paid membership to BLACKPINK's youtube channel. Fans who get a paid membership will get a pass to the concert, access to the rebroadcast, as well as loyalty badges next to their names when they post comments and participate in live chats.

It can be recalled that YouTube recently awarded BLACKPINK with their very own Ruby Button for reaching 50 million subscribers on the platform.

They are the first Korean artists to reach the milestone number of followers on YouTube. They also have three music videos that surpassed 1 billion views, Koreaboo reported.
