Samsung appears to follow the path that Apple took when its recent regulatory filing confirmed the company no longer intends to include chargers or headphones in Galaxy S21 boxes.

When Apple released the new iPhone 12 family on October 13 during the company's "Hi, Speed" event, some fans were a bit disappointed at the announcement that the new phones will no longer include charging bricks or EarPods. Company officials cited environmental concerns as the primary reason behind its decision on the non-inclusion of the accessories. Rival company Samsung, upon learning of Apple's move, wasted no time poking fun at the decision of the Cupertino tech giant. After barely two months, the Korean tech company appears to follow Apple's path after all when rumors indicate its regulatory filing expressed the intention of the company to exclude chargers or headphones in Galaxy S 21 boxes.

While rumors spread that the real reason why Apple excluded chargers and EarPods in new iPhone 12 boxes is to offset the cost of its research and integration of the 5G feature, the Cupertino tech company stuck to its story about doing its part for the environment. Samsung, however, saw the opportunity as too good to pass up. At about noon of October 13, the Korean tech company posted on Twitter that its Galaxy provides its customers everything, from chargers to 120Hz screen, and accompanied the post with an image of a charging brick, an obvious swipe at Apple. Recently, Samsung filed an application with regulators asking them to allow the Korean tech firm to sell Galaxy models without headphones or chargers.

Except for the fun that ensued from Samsung's Twitter post, many did not take its swipe at Apple seriously at that time since there are already rumors that the company is also planning to remove power bricks from the boxes of its next-generation smartphones. In June, rumors started floating that upcoming Galaxy S21 boxes would no longer have power bricks or headphones. Many thought that Samsungs decision, if true as it was unconfirmed at the time, appear to follow Apple's path as the Cupertino company already announced early in the year it might not include chargers or headphones in iPhone 12 boxes. The recent regulatory filing of Samsung confirmed the rumors that it is indeed following the move of Apple.

Samsung filed its application with ANATEL, the Brazilian regulatory agency. The regulatory filing contained only a few details about Samsung's new devices, though it confirmed that none of its three upcoming smartphones included chargers or headphones, following the path that Apple took when it also removed charging bricks in the new iPhone 12 boxes.
