Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) could get a promotion in Blue Bloods season 11. He has been excelling in his job as a Sergeant, but his role could change moving forward. While it's uncertain whether he'll be the next Commissioner, he is advancing to a Lieutenant position now.

In a recent interview with TV Insider, executive producer Kevin Wade discussed what's coming for Jamie's career in Blue Bloods season 11. He said that the character becomes more like his father, Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), as the police procedural drama progresses.

Wade noted that Jamie is likely heading in the direction to take the Lieutenant's exam. He carries a leadership quality, which comes with "diplomacy and cool heads prevailing." He is going to move up the ladder until he gets to the higher rank.

Jamie's Harvard law degree helps him climbs the New York Police Department ranks and quick rise to the role of Sergeant. He's already proved himself in doing a better job, and Blue Bloods season 11 will continue to show what else he can do.

His wife, Eddie Janko-Reagan (Vanessa Ray), might be heading in the same direction, as well. She's been interested in advancing up the ranks and take on the leadership role. Both Jamie and Eddie have shown that they could quickly advance through the police ranks.

The biggest problem for Jamie, however, is that his family history might be held against him. Some may question his quick promotion, and they'll try to sabotage him to bring him down. There are people out there who are willing to ruin his name and reputation because of his background as a Reagan.

Meanwhile, the second episode of Blue Bloods season 11 sees Jamie and his brother, Dannie Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg), teaming up for a certain mission. They're sharing a common goal, and they combine forces to convict a notorious drug lord.

This is an interesting storyline, as Jamie teamed up with his nephew, Joe Hill (Will Hochman), to locate Danny and Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) in the premiere. Some preview photos from "In The Name Of The Father" have been unveiled, showing Jamie and Danny in action.

As for what else is coming, Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) is nervously waiting for the selection of the Governor for the new District Attorney. On the other hand, Frank and Joe are facing tough decisions while navigating their new and complicated family ties.

Blue Bloods season 11 is airing every Friday night on CBS.
