Blue Bloods season 11 encountered several filming setbacks earlier this year due to the COVD-19 pandemic. The cast and crew weren't able to begin working immediately due to the global health crisis. The good news is that the police procedural drama officially premiering this weekend on CBS.

Blue Bloods season 11 will continue to feature stories revolving around the policing world -- including police reform. Over the past years, the series has been delivering stories relevant to what's happening in the real world. But, beyond that, is there a chance for the series to address the pandemic?

While it seems likely, the show goes on a different approach. Instead of seeing the characters living in the times of the pandemic, the series will look into the situation as if it has already passed. That means that the upcoming installment will have a post-pandemic setting.

In an interview with Pop Culture, series star Will Estes (who plays Jamie Reagan) shared what Blue Bloods season 11 would look like now that the real world is in the midst of the health crisis. He noted that it might be nice for the viewers to watch a show without the pandemic-themed storyline.

Estes said that this is the choice they made for the latest installment. He explained that viewers would see the characters not wearing masks -- which is required in the real world as part of health guidelines and protocols. But, the actor made it clear that the cast and crew are wearing such behind the scenes.

Estes further noted that they chose to go on this approach because they want people to tune in and see the series. Viewers could find escapism and step away from the difficult things happening in the real world every day. He added that this is the best way they can serve their viewers.

Meanwhile, Blue Bloods season 11 premieres with an episode titled "Triumph Over Trauma." Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) search for a killer, but both went missing in the process. Jamie and Joe Hill (Will Hochman) work together to locate their whereabouts.

Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) is also dealing with his own problem in the premiere. He must find a way how to handle the tension between the people and the police. He comes head-to-head with Regina Thomas (Whoopi Goldberg), who told him to get his cops on the line.

Blue Bloods season 11 will be dropping its new episodes starting on Friday, Dec. 4, on CBS.
