Legacies season 3 is officially coming next year of The CW after encountering a series of production delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There are still a few episodes left in the second installment, and these would be the focus of the early run on the latest installment.
Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) and Landon Kirby (Aria Shahghasemi) are the biggest concerns in Legacies season 3. Their storylines weren't properly wrapped up in season 2 as production was shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Hope is still in a dream-like state after attempting to rescue Josie Saltzman (Kaylee Bryant). At the same time, Landon was stabbed by Rafael Waithe (Peyton Alex Smith) with a golden arrow -- as commanded by The Necromancer. Their lives are in jeopardy entering the new installment.
The CW has unveiled the first trailer of Legacies season 3, and the stakes are even higher for them. In the clip, Rafael is doing whatever he can -- and even proposed a risky deal -- to rescue his foster brother. Meanwhile, Landon can be heard saying that Hope won't be there when he bids his "final goodbye."
Hope remains asleep after infiltrating Josie's subconscious to free her from her dark impulses. There is a question on how others could get her out of her current situation. They have to find ways to wake her up before everything gets too late.
These stories would be the major focus of the early run of the upcoming installment. The originally-planned season 2 finale will be incorporated in the story, with Hope and Landon's lives both on the line. It's yet to be seen whether they'll survive or one of them is going to die.
The first few episodes of Legacies season 3 will be intense. Most of the characters have to take on the evils surrounding them while trying to figure out how to save their friends. Considering the nature of the show, there could be a huge twist in the story.
Meanwhile, the good news is that there's going to be a musical episode in the third installment. This particular episode was originally set to air in the spring. However, the schedule wasn't pushed through due to the current global health crisis.
The series begins filming in October. Yet, there are certain changes on set because of the pandemic. The cast and crew follow strict health measures and protocols, such as wearing masks, to ensure their safety while filming new episodes.
Legacies season 3 is premiering on Thursday, January 21, 2021, on The CW.
