A former aide to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has accused him of sexually harassing her in a string of tweets - claiming the governor made inappropriate comments about her appearance, The Associated Press reported Monday.
"Yes, @NYGovCuomo sexually harassed me for years. Many saw it, and watched," AP quoted Lindsey Boylan, who is a Democrat running for president for Manhattan borough, commented on Twitter, Sunday.
"I could never anticipate what to expect: would I be grilled on my work (which was very good) or harassed about my looks. Or would it be both in the same conversation? Boylan tweeted.
Caitlin Girouard, Cuomo's press secretary, dismissed the accusations against the governor. "There's simply no truth to these claims," she said.
Boylan worked for Cuomo's administration from March 2015 to October 2018, serving as deputy secretary for economic development and as the governor's special adviser, her LinkedIn profile shows.
Boylan, who refused to respond to a request for comment, tweeted that she had no interest in talking to journalists, adding she was "angry" to be put in a situation, NBC News reported.
On Dec. 5, Boylan tweeted that her "most toxic" team environment was her time working in the 63-year-old governor's office. She said that staff were "deathly afraid" of Cuomo, the report added.
For Boylan, working as a salesperson at Friendly's when she was still a teenager was a more respectful environment...even when I had bad customers who tipped poorly," Boylan tweeted.
Boylan's sexual harassment claims against the governor come following reports that he is being considered for the position of attorney general in president-elect Joe Biden's administration.
Cuomo is a prominent adversary to President Donald Trump's policies on the international health crisis. Before leading the state, Cuomo was New York's attorney general.
