OCN's Uncanny Counter recently achieved the highest rating for any drama aired on the cable network.

According to a report by Soompi, the fantasy drama Uncanny Counter scored an average nationwide rating of 7.7 percent during its sixth episode.

This was the highest rating achieved by the drama during its three-week run. It also surpassed the highest viewership rating achieved by OCN in the history of the network. It can be recalled that the finale of Voice 2 previously held the record at 7.1 percent.

Uncanny Counter premiered on OCN and Netflix last November 28. It centers around a group of demon hunters called counters. They take on the disguise of noodle restaurant employees to crack down on demons who prey on humans in their quest for immortality, SCMP reported.

The ratings come as good news for actor Jo Byung Gyu, who took on the lead role for the first time with Uncanny Counter.

In an interview, he admitted that he felt pressured to perform well, but he thanked his castmates and director for their guidance.

Byung Gyu received a lot of praise from his co-star Kim Sejeong. She said that Byung Gyu perfectly portrayed the lead role of So Moon, because he was able to show different sides of the character. Sejeong said that he was able to deliver on both the bright side and dark side of his character's personality.

Byung Gyu was also the first choice of Uncanny Counter webtoon author Jang Yi to take on the role because he looked so similar to the webtoon character.

In an interview posted on Soompi, Jang Yi said that when he completed the first season of the webtoon, he saw the actor in a different drama and joked about how great it would be if he was cast as So Moon. He admitted that he was surprised to learn that his joke came true.

He had nothing but kind words for all the cast members and said that he was excited to see how they would bring to life the counters for the live-action drama.

Apart from Uncanny Counter, several other dramas posted significant increases in their ratings, according to Nielsen Korea.

tvN's body switch Joseon drama Mr. Queen premiered to the second-highest rating in history for any tvN weekend drama and increased their rating for the follow-up episode at 8.8 percent.

KBS2's Homemade Love Story also rose to ratings high by scoring 30.3 percent and 32.9 percent for its two parts.
