Tesla is making the purchase of electric vehicles even more inviting this December. For those planning to purchase a Model 3 or Model Y for Christmas, the toys will indeed come with a giveaway - one year of free Supercharging access, and the automaker said the promo runs through the end of the month.

The incentive is for the North American buyers and will cover the Model 3, which is Tesla's most popular EV being the most affordable as well, and the Model Y crossover. The guidance issued to dealerships indicated that all variants of the EVs mentioned are included in the promo save for the Model 3 Standard Range.

According to CNET, the freebie is without specific limitations by the time Tesla's advisory was sent out. That should mean that pending clarifications from the company, the free Supercharging will last for one good year regardless of an EV's mileage.

The latest offer came as Tesla announced earlier this week that it is on track to reach 500,000 units ready for delivery this 2020. Elon Musk reported that the company is swamped with high demands and that production must be increased for the target to be realized.

By the company's estimation, the production line will need to roll out no fewer than 181,000 units in the month to breach the target mark in the last quarter of the year. And it appears that the promotional campaign is designed to aid in achieving that milestone.

If production will deliver as expected, analysts said Tesla will post a 30% jump from the September quarter and the automaker is en route to finish the calendar year with another record performance. In the last five quarters, Tesla has been registering profits and is now regarded as the most valuable automaker in the world.

However, Tesla is not showing signs that it intends to slow down anytime soon. The hard work will continue on the road to further growth and as Electrek noted, the company will not stop to lure buyers. Providing free Supercharging is but one of the marketing techniques that Tesla will employ to make the big push in achieving the yearend delivery target.

The company's incentive program is seen as insurance to meet the 2020 delivery figures. Per the same report, the free Supercharging access should convince would-be buyers to make the move this December. In effect, Tesla is making sure that planned EV purchases this holiday season will not be delayed and the company will get the boost to inch closer to its set delivery targets.
