American Horror Story season 10 wasn't able to follow its usual filming schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The anthology series has been off-air for more than a year now, so fans have anticipated its return to the small screen. The good news is that the cast and crew are back to work.
In a recent interview with Digital Spy, series star Lily Rabe confirmed that they've started filming American Horror Story season 10 in the first week of December. Many were delighted by this update, especially since the plan to kick off production in October wasn't pushed through.
Rabe didn't reveal further details about what's coming in the latest installment. She said that there are things that were already said, and there's nothing new that she can say. But, the actress promised fans that the new chapter is "going to be great."
Details about the American Horror Story season 10 remain scarce at the moment, though it could focus on the beach theme. There were speculations that the story may feature killer mermaids or some deep-sea creatures. Also, some previous teases often incorporate the ocean as the background.
In fact, series creator Ryan Murphy has been sharing photos of the next installment on his Instagram account. Previously, he posted a photo featuring an unknown creature with shark-like teeth -- which further suggests that the theme revolves around the sea.
Earlier this year, Murphy shared a photo featuring two hands coming out of the ocean. The image coincided with the casting announcement, in which a clip introduced the series stars with the ocean in the background, along with creepy music.
In addition to Rabe, the latest installment sees the returns of AHS veterans Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Adina Porter, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, and Angelica Ross. It was also confirmed that Macaulay Culkin would be the newest addition in American Horror Story season 10.
Both Paulson and Peters are coming back after being absent in the previous installment for the first time. Their role remains unknown as of yet, but Paulson is, reportedly, set to play a "central character" -- something that she's been doing in the show over the past years.
American Horror Story season 10 was originally planned to air at some point in 2020. However, the release date has been delayed due to the current global health crisis. No official premiere date was set since production has just started. But, it is expected to come out in 2021.
