The Blacklist season 8 is on hiatus after airing just two episodes in November. The crime-thriller drama has featured a lot of notable characters in the past, and some of them were essential in answering the questions surrounding Raymond Reddington (James Spader) and Liz Keen's (Megan Boone).

While nothing is officially confirmed, CarterMatt listed three notable names that could have an essential part in The Blacklist season 8. The first name on the list is Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen). In season 4, he went missing shortly after Reddington whispered something to him.

At the moment, there's a mystery regarding Kirk's whereabouts and what he's doing. If ever Reddington, indeed, killed Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins), this could lead him to show up again. After all, he is someone who holds some answers about Spader's characters.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Reddington (Fiona Dourif) is another character that could show up again in the series -- if not in The Blacklist season 8. There is a question why Reddington doesn't care about her when he cares so much for her half-sister, Liz.

If he is the real Reddington, then why does he act like this towards his daughter? This is something that needed to be addressed, and it could lead to further exploring his true identity. Clearly, Jennifer still has a role to play in the series.

The third character who could make a return in the series is Samar Navabi (Mozhan Marno). She is alive, but she chose to leave in season 6. Her return could set a huge storyline for Aram Mojtabai (Amir Arison). There is more to their relationship that must be explored.

Meanwhile, The Blacklist season 8 is coming back next year on NBC. The third episode picks up with the massive even in episode 2, wherein Reddington killed Katarina. Liz witnessed this, and she's now determined to take Reddington down.

Liz is heading to the dark path once again. The war between her and Reddington will further intensify because of what happened. She is determined to find the truth about his identity, something that will play out through most of the season.

Speaking to TVLine, John Eisendrath said that Katarina's death made Liz more determined in finding answers to her questions. She is going to burn the bridge and cross the line to find out the truth. Her determination makes her the "most formidable adversaries" of Red.

The Blacklist season 8 returns on Friday, January 22, 2021, on NBC.
