Zoey Clarke's (Jane Levy) special ability to hear people's song in the heart will be further explored in Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist season 2. At the same time, it'll see the titular character dealing with the loss of her father, Mitch (Peter Gallagher).

The early run of Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist season 2 is going to be filled with dramatic moments and emotional scenes. Zoey is still mourning his father's death, yet she recognized that Mitch would want her to be happy and move forward with her life.

Zoey will try to be normal just like others, but that won't be easy for her. She has a special ability, which makes things quite hard for her at first. Eventually, she gets used to living with it, and she'll discover new ways to help other people by using her ability.

In the latest promo of Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist season 2, the titular character realized that those "big musical numbers" might be helping her. She's starting to see her ability to hear people's song in the heart as a blessing.

This is going to be one of the major storylines in the next installment. According to a previous report from TVLine, executive producer Austin Winsberg confirmed that the origin of Zoey's ability would be addressed in the second season.

Until now, there's a lot of mystery as to where it came from. It was only revealed that the titular character got it when an earthquake occurred at the time she's undergoing an MRI scan. However, it wasn't explored why she got it and whether or not she can control it.

Beyond that, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist season 2 will also explore the titular character's personal life -- most especially her romantic life. The complicated love triangle between her, Max (Skylar Astin), and Simon (John Clarence Stewart) has been a huge part of the first season.

Meanwhile, the latest installment will be introducing new characters, as well. It has been confirmed that Jee Young Han will play the role of Emily Kang's (Alice Lee) older sister, Jenna Kang. She'll be helping her younger sister and David Clarke (Andrew Leeds) navigating their lives as parents.

Felix Mallard plays Aiden, Zoey's childhood friend and neighbor, who returns to San Francisco after living in Asia. Harvey Guillén portrays the character of Glenn, the titular character's new worker who's trying to please her and his colleagues at SPRQ Point.

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, on NBC.
