Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 3 is not scheduled to arrive until next year on NBC. The police procedural drama went on hiatus again after airing two episodes in November. Details about the upcoming installment were scarce, but the network previously shared some updates on what lies ahead.

NBC unveiled some preview photos of Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 3. One of the images featured Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger). It's yet to be seen what they're up to within this episode, but it seems as though they're discussing a particular case.

Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 3 will also focus on some of the topical issues in the policing world, including police reform. This storyline will play a huge part through most of the current installment, wherein it'll bring stories relevant to what's happening in the real world.

In fact, the series is starting to deliver some of it during its first two episodes. For instance, Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) will be further tested. He is going to fight for what is right to ensure that justice will be served correctly.

Apart from addressing topical issues, the series will continue to deliver personal storylines, as well. Ruzek and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) has gone through a lot as of late after the latter suffered a miscarriage while out working in the field.

Both of them were still trying to process the loss. But, despite the tragedy, Ruzek and Burgess will lean on each other for emotional support. Showrunner Rick Eid told TVLine in a past interview that their bond will "evolve and deepen" because of what happened.

As for Halstead and Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), their bond may also further progress along the way. There is no guarantee they'll be moving forward into something more romantic, but they do have feelings for each other.

More details about Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 3 will be unveiled in the coming weeks. Also, the good news is that viewers will meet a new recurring character when the series returns next year. Cleveland Berto is going to be a series regular and is set to play Officer Jalen Walker.

He will be an interesting addition in the department, who's described as a "golden boy" and "idealistic." Walker turned down a job on Wall Street and chose to work at the Chicago Police Department. He's determined to be part of the team as he wants "to make a difference."

Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 3 airs on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, on NBC.
