Prince Harry had other high-profile relationships before Meghan Markle. He dated several notable women in his life during his younger years.

But, among all, royal commentators and experts deemed only one of the women as the "most suitable person" for the royal-born Prince. Cheat Sheet named this person as Cressida Bones, whom the Duke of Sussex dated in 2012.

Upon revealing who this person is, the publication explained why the former pair never married each other. Despite being the ideal partners, they separated after two years of dating.

In his book, Battle of Brothers, royal expert and biographer Robert Lacey explained why a wedding never happened between Bonas and the youngest Wales Prince. He explained that the English model and actress had a revelation when she saw Kate Middleton and Prince George on television during the Cambridges' royal tour in New Zealand in 2014.

Sources claimed that Cressida Bones was "completely spooked" after seeing the eight-month-old royal with the Duchess of Cambridge on a trip outside the United Kingdom. She, reportedly, "regretfully explained" to Prince Harry that this was not the way she would want to enjoy her own months-old son when they start a family. This, then, convinced her to end the relationship, according to the Daily Star.

Apart from the revelation she had, royal experts stated that she did not seem to like the press. Correspondent Chrissie Reeves shared that the only time Bonas posed for the press and media was at one event, wherein she wore skinny jeans and trainers.

Many believe that Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas would have already tied the knot by now if they continued their relationship. But, the latter, reportedly, had no wishes to be a princess, causing the end of their two-year romantic link.

Despite the split, the former couple seemingly maintained a good friendship through the years. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex even invited Bonas to their wedding in 2018.

Royal biographer Chris Hutchins, later on, explained why Cressida Bonas is the "most suitable person" for Prince Harry. Speaking for a documentary on ITV, he said that the English actress was not interested in the fact that her then-boyfriend is the Queen's grandson. He noted that this is because Bonas herself and her family come from a "very grand ancestry."

She is the daughter of Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon and Jeffrey Bonas. Her mother, who comes from the Curzon family, is the daughter of an English earl. The family has been part of the British aristocracy for centuries now, making her an ideal partner for the Duke of Sussex. Meanwhile, Bonas' father comes from a family that owns textile mills.

The former couple met through Princess Eugenie. The talks about their two-year relationship began to emerge again after news confirmed Cressida Bonas' wedding to her now-husband investor Harry Wentworth-Stanley earlier this week.
