Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry) and Nic Nevin's (Emily VanCamp) wedding is going to be a big part of the upcoming The Resident season 4. The medical drama has been teasing this moment ahead of its release and it seems like it'll be an emotional one.
The recent clip of The Resident season 4 featured Conrad and Nic exchanging heartfelt vows in a picturesque setting. Some preview photos also showed other characters celebrating the event. Now, the couple is moving forward with their lives and starts a new chapter.
However, Nic and Conrad need to deal with the challenges coming their way before getting married. The fourth installment premieres with a pandemic storyline, which sees the doctors and other medical staff at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital dealing with the outbreak of the COVID-19.
The Resident season 4 features the early days of the pandemic, as well as the difficulties that healthcare workers have encountered. It'll cause a huge impact for everyone at the hospital, with some of them feeling the emotional and physical strain.
The good news is that Conrad and Nic's wedding is set in the pot-pandemic world. After dealing with the crisis, the two are going to be getting the happy ending that they deserve. Yet, they could still be facing some issues in their marriage -- though it could make their bond even stronger.
Speaking to TVLine, co-creator Amy Holden teased that the "long-awaited CoNic wedding" is going to be a beautiful moment of "hope and promise." She added that the couple's devotion -- for both their patients and each other -- is an example of "love for us all."
But then, one of the concerning things here is that the premiere episode is titled "A Wedding, A Funeral." It's yet to be seen what does the second half means, but previous teasers hinted at several characters struggling with their health issues.
Meanwhile, a new series regular is coming in The Resident season 4. Deadline reported that Gotham alum Jessica Lucas will be joining the rest of the cast of the medical drama. She will be portraying the role of Billie, someone who could have a significant role in Nic's life.
Billie used to be a top neurosurgery resident at Chastain. However, she was removed from her post after a tragic error. Nic has known and loved her since she was a kid and wants her to come back to the hospital. Yet, her hot temper could challenge everyone else in the room.
The Resident season 4 will be premiering on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, on Fox.
