Kate Middleton and Prince William will reportedly involve their two oldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, in more royal engagements in 2021.

After the Cambridge kids' first red carpet event at the London Palladium just before Christmas, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made the surprising decision to increase George and Charlotte's exposure to their kind of public service.

According to royal correspondent Christina Garibaldi, Kate and William loved watching their children develop in the last year and thought that the kids are ready for more. However, the Cambridge parents will make sure that their royal engagements will not affect their school.

George, 7, is currently in Year 3 at Thomas's Battersea, which means he has more school work to accomplish. Charlotte, 5, is in Year 1 in the same school.

However, due to the pandemic crisis this year, George and Charlotte spent more than half of their school term with their parents as they have been homeschooling. This allowed the royal kids to engage in their parents' royal roles, such as distributing food to the vulnerable communities in Norfolk last April with their father or participating in the Clap for Carers campaign to show their support for the frontliners fighting this pandemic.

In October, George, Charlotte and their two-year-old sibling, Louis, took part in an outdoor nature film showing with environmentalist Sir David Attenborough. The kids also got the chance to ask Attenborough questions about animals and conservation.

A source said that George and Charlotte have grown up a lot within the year that some people consider them as "little people" rather than children. George is growing up to be a mature person befitting of his role as the third in line to the throne while Charlotte has strong and confident leadership qualities that will make her become a great public servant.

Meanwhile, in July 2021, the Duke of Cambridge is due to unveil the statue of his deceased mother, Princess Diana, at Kensington Palace. It is believed that William will reunite with his brother, Prince Harry, in what will likely be their first royal engagement together after more than a year and a half apart.

The major event will also mark Princess Diana's 60th birthday and could likely feature her grandchildren. However, sources told Daily Express that there is still no confirmed announcement on who will take part in the statue's unveiling.

Princess Diana's statue was originally supposed to be unveiled during her 20th death anniversary last 2017. William and Harry commissioned Ian Rank-Broadley as the statue's artist.
