Taylor Swift shocked her fans and followers this year upon releasing her eighth studio album, Folklore. She surprised the public with her latest works, consequently followed by another album, Evermore.

While the release itself remains to be shocking, Swifties noticed that the singer broke all her usual "rules" in her eighth collection. Unlike her previous albums, she wrote all her latest pieces without fully using her own experiences as the subject, according to Cheat Sheet.

The publication covered Swift's revelations about the matter. She shared how she felt writing songs that are not about her life and herself.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the "Cardigan" singer stated that it was "freeing to be able to just be inspired by worlds created by films," as well as books, places, and even people. Reports, then, concluded that Folklore has given her the "creative freedom," which was not entirely present in her previous tracks.

Taylor Swift, also, mentioned that she got "candid" when she was writing the tracks for her eighth album. She emphasized that films, in particular, were her inspiration.

She continued that it made her "curious" to know what it would be like creating "intertwining storylines without using her own life experiences as her basis. She successfully did it with the tracks, "Cardigan," "Betty," and "August."

Apart from using films and artworks as her inspirations, Swift, also, kept her friends "out of the loop" amid writing her songs, according to Cheat Sheet. The "Cruel Summer" singer revealed this in one of her previous interviews, noting that she was "hellbent" on breaking almost all of her rules.

Taylor Swift said that the only people who knew about Folklore prior to its release were her family, her management team, and her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. She, later on, admitted that it was "weird" considering that she would always play her records to her "girlfriends" before releasing it to the public.

Five months after Swift released her eighth studio album, she gave her fandom another treat by dropping her ninth. Forbes reported that the songwriter tweeted about Evermore and noted its actual release on December 11.

She, also, revealed that Folklore producers Aaron Dessner, Justin Vernon, and Jack Antonoff worked with her again for the new record. Alongside the surprising announcement, Taylor Swift shared a teaser, as well, featuring an image of the tracklist. It has 15 songs in its standard release, plus another two bonus tracks for the deluxe edition.
