BLINKs are outraged over the disrespectful description included in BLACKPINK's Jisoo's entry to TC Candler's 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2020. They were even more incensed over the publication's reaction to their demands for an apology.
According to a report by Kpopstarz, fans felt insulted for the BLACKPINK member after TC Candler's published its description for Jisoo, who made it to 50th place this year.
Based on the customized description, which usually includes the nominee's profession and skills, Jisoo was a 25-year-old singer, dancer, and model. What caused the fans' outrage was an addendum in the end, which states that her English was a pity.
BLINKs took issue with the insulting and unprofessional statement because it seemed like Jisoo was being singled out for the insult among all of the celebrities who made it to the annual list.
BLACKPINK members like Lisa, Jennie, and Rose are fluent in English because they had exposure abroad, while Jisoo is the least fluent among the members. She freely admitted this during a guesting on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon when fans noticed that she spoke less than the other members.
In the episode, she admitted that despite her limited vocabulary, her favorite English expression was "What a pity."
Fans said that while BLACKPINK members might joke about Jisoo's lack of prowess in English among themselves, it was not right for TC Candler to include it in her description. The manner in which it was phrased also seemed insulting.
Instead of apologizing, TC Candler took to Twitter saying that the line in the description was based on Jisoo's own joke. They maintained that they were not going to apologize to Jisoo because they were confident that she will like the joke.

Meanwhile, BTS V took second place in TC Candler's Most Handsome Faces List this year. This is V's fifth year to enter the list, elevating him to Hall of Fame status, Hello Kpop reported.
Fellow BTS members also made it to the 100 Most Handsome Faces of 2020. Jungkook became a Hall of Famer on his fifth year on the list and landed on the No. 4 spot.
Jimin, who has been on the list for four years, made it to No. 17. "Worldwide Handsome" Jin landed in the 39th spot in his third year on TC Candler.
The TC Candler List is an annual list published by the Independent Critics since 1990. They screen nominations from people all around the world to come up with the ultimate list to represent the modern ideal of worldwide beauty.
