Dexter revival is confirmed to be happening in a form of a 10-episode limited series. Many were delighted by this since the original ending was deemed one of the "controversial endings" in television history. Now, lead star Michael C. Hall talks about the return of the crime-drama mystery.

In a recent interview with Daily Beast, Hall -- who plays Dexter Morgan -- shared his expectations in the upcoming Dexter revival. He said that a lot of people find the show's ending "unsatisfying," though it leaves hope that it would emerge at some point -- bringing stories worth-telling.

Hall admitted that he's one of the people who wondered "what really happened" to the titular character. Now that the show is coming back, the actor is excited to "step back" into it since he hasn't played his character for many years.

A few details were known about Dexter revival, but original showrunner Clyde Phillips returns onboard. It remains to be seen how the story moves forward, though some reports suggest it will pick up 10 years following the events that transpired in the original series finale.

Previously, Phillips said that the upcoming series wouldn't undo what happened in the season 8 finale. Rather than doing that, they'll be giving the titular character a "new ending." Reportedly, the story kicks off with Dexter, who went missing at the time of Hurricane Laura.

In the revival, he's living in a world away from Miami with an assumed name. It's yet to be seen where he ended up, though some speculated he's in Oregon while others suggested he moved to America's remote area. He may also reunite with his son Harrison and lover Hannah (Yvonne Strahovski) in Argentina.

Meanwhile, a new character will emerge when Dexter revival arrives. It has been confirmed that Clancy Brown is going to have his series regular role in the upcoming event. Only a few details were known about his character, but she could serve as the Big Bad.

Brown is set to play Kurt Caldwell, a man born and raised in Iron Lake. Some of the people in his small town considered him as the "unofficial mayor." He followed his father's footsteps, now owning several trucks and a local truck store.

Kurt is powerful, generous, and loved by everyone. Many see him as a true man, and people feel blessed when he's got your back. He's going to hurt anyone who hurt the people he cares for. He might become a dangerous adversary moving forward.

Dexter revival is slated to premiere in late 2021.
