Prodigal Son season 2 episode 2 will feature an eerie case, which wasn't usually shown in the crime-drama. The title of next week's episode is "Speak of the Devil," suggesting that something odd is coming for Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne) and others.

Things may go a little bit different entering Prodigal Son season 2 episode 2. The latest case Bright has to deal with involves a potential exorcism. The series doesn't usually feature a storyline similar to this, but it is now going in that direction to further excite the fans.

The potential exorcism begins when a priest was found murdered in a place where he usually worships. Bright will investigate who's responsible for this, but it prompted him to deal with the effects of his own trauma. His father, Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen), will also try to help with the case.

Martin consulted his inmate named Friar Pete (Christian Borle). Later on, he discovered that this person is keeping a secret of his own. He is going to be the "key consultant" in this particular case. However, he is considered "extremely dangerous" which could jeopardize Bright's job.

Friar Pete was removed from his church because of his extremist views. He's also famous for his "notorious killing spree," hinting that he may have something to do with the death of the priest. Perhaps, this is where the potential exorcism comes into play.

Meanwhile, Bright's sister, Ainsley Whitly (Halston Sage), will be dealing with her own thing in Prodigal Son season 2 episode 2. She is worried that their mother, Jessica Whitly (Bellamy Young), is keeping something from her regarding her relationship with Gil Arroyo (Lou Diamond Philips).

The upcoming episode will also feature a topical subject within the policing world. Gil, Bright, and Dani Powell (Aurora Perrineau) rally behind JT Tarmel (Frank Harts). They're urging him to make his voice heard to his union rep and discuss the discrimination he's been experiencing.

Prodigal Son season 2 episode 2 picks up where the premiere left off, as well. Although new cases and challenges arise, some issues from the past need to be resolved. For instance, there are still a lot of mysteries surrounding Nicholas Endicott (Dermot Mulroney).

His death has been a major part of the season 1 finale. Ainsley was responsible for what happened, but she does not remember that she did it. Bright is desperate to help his sister, even if that means covering the situation up for her. Yet, he knows that they can't run away with this.

Prodigal Son season 2 episode 2 airs on Tuesday, Jan. 19, on Fox.
