After a well-received first season, the wait is now on for By the Grace of Gods Season 2. Almost a month after its first season ended in December 2020, fans are now eager to see the continuation of Ryouma Takebayashi's story.
Maho Film is yet to announce if there will be By the Grace of Gods Season 2. As Season 1 ended with an open finale, it seemed to hint at the coming of another installment.
The anime series is originally a light novel series by Roy, illustrated by Ririnra. It tells the story of Ryouma, a 39-year-old salaryman, who died in his sleep. Ryouma lived a rather depressing life -- quiet and lonely with a lot of misfortunes, Epic Dope noted.
Feeling sorry for the life he had lived, the three deities, Gain, Lulutia, and Kufo, reincarnated him as an eight-year-old kid with his own magical powers. The reborn Ryouma also had one goal in life -- to be happy.
Anyhow, despite fulfilling his wish, Ryouma still missed human interaction. So, when he saw an injured traveler passed by, he healed him and joined their group upon their persuasion. From here, a new adventure began.
At the end of the first season, Ryouma and Eliana bid goodbye to each other. They promised to meet in the future that might be seen in By the Grace of the Gods Season 2.
Gain, Lulutia, and Kufo then talked about the progress Ryouma made in the fantasy land, predicting he might become a magician. So, if a new season would come, fans might see a new and improved Ryouma, along with some new and old companions.
On the other hand, The Cinemaholic added Eliaria might also become an "accomplished magician" just like Ryouma. To recall, the gods foresaw Ryouma's future, so they might have an idea of what would happen to him.
Sadly, Maho Film or any other company related to the anime's production is yet to give an update about the making of the new season. Anyhow, if the anime gets the green light, it may still take years before it sees the light of the day, knowing filming an anime is "scheduled years in advance," per Monsters & Critics.
However, it is also possible that the By the Grace of the Gods Season 2 has been secretly planned, although it remains to be seen if this is real or not. Anyhow, with the way Maho Film's works, producing only one season of isekai anime, the show may not receive a second season at all.
