Suga and J-Hope have very different personalities. Some ARMYs even joked that SG is Squidward and JH is Spongebob Squarepants from the popular Nickelodeon animated series.

So when Suga and J-Hope previously announced that they are a duo called SOPE, fans were not so sure about it. BTS has a lot of ships, but shipping the “Daechwita” rapper and the “Chicken Noodle Soup” hitmaker seemed to be laughable at the time.

However, ARMYs eventually confirmed the famous idiom, “Opposites attract.” The fandom realized that despite Suga and J-Hope’s differences, their chemistry is undeniable.

That said, SOPE’s popularity started rising slowly but surely. And on the 35th Golden Disc Awards ceremony, Suga and J-Hope gave ARMYs a precious SOPE moment that could turn anyone into a shipper.

During the interview segment, BTS was asked to give each other a positive message. RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook then gave the member next to them some uplifting words.

Suga, who was standing at the very left corner, had to message J-Hope, who was on the opposite side of the stage. V told the pair to go in the middle because they were so far away. SG and JH did just that.

Suga and J-Hope stepped up to be closer, but the latter stopped a few steps in front of the “Shadow” rapper. When JH saw SG about to hold his arm, he quickly went closer to him, and V pushed them together.

The 27-year-old rapper, songwriter, and record producer was clearly flustered by the situation and had a hard time looking at J-Hope’s eyes while giving his message. The “Ego” rapper, on the other hand, couldn’t stop laughing, blissfully unaware that SOPE shippers were screaming and bursting into UwUs upon seeing this moment.

While Sope is not the most popular ship in BTS, Suga and J-Hope always have more genuine and natural interactions than other ships. In fact, even the Run BTS! staff couldn’t help but be a fan of SOPE as well.

But Run BTS! staff are not the only ones who ship SOPE, as BANGTANTV editors also appear to be enthusiasts of the pair. When Suga and J-Hope picked each other’s photocards from the lucky draw board during BTS FESTA 2020 Map of the Song: 7, BANGTANTV editors wrote the caption “SOPE is true.”
