Disney and Lucasfilm have several new shows lined up for the future, but there is one that people simply can't stop talking about. The Ahsoka Tano series was possibly the most exciting announcement made by Star Wars during Disney Investor Day, and it looks like it will be bringing in a Star Wars Rebels actor to play the villainous Grand Admiral Thrawn.

It's no secret that people had huge hopes for Ahsoka Tano showing up in a live-action project. This was why fans immediately assumed that Rosario Dawson had been cast as the former Jedi in The Mandalorian Season 2. After all, the Daredevil actress had been actively campaigning to play Ahsoka on social media. Luckily, Star Wars fans were right, and Dawson finally debuted as the live-action Ahsoka in the episode "Chapter 13: The Jedi".

Ahsoka Tano's one-episode appearance in The Mandalorian Season 2 may have been brief, but it also established the character's ongoing story arc. In "Chapter 13: The Jedi", it was confirmed that Ahsoka was trying to get to Morgan Elsbeth because she wanted to get the location of Grand Admiral Thrawn.

It is clearly an important mission for Ahsoka Tano because she chose not to continue Baby Yoda's Jedi training. Instead, she suggested that Mando bring Grogu to an ancient Jedi Temple on Tython to bond with the Force. This way, Ahsoka could continue on her way to find Grand Admiral Thrawn.

So does this mean that Grand Admiral Thrawn will finally show up in a live-action Star Wars show? It has already been confirmed that the Ahsoka Tano series will take place during the Mandalorian timeline. In addition to that, the upcoming show could bring in some of the characters from Star Wars Rebels. So it shouldn't be a huge suprise that Disney and Lucasfilm are already planning to cast Thrawn.

But will Thrawn be played by the same actor who provides his voice in Star Wars Rebels? According to Small Screen UK, Disney and Lucasfilm are planning to cast Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Ahsoka Tano series.

If Lars Mikkelson will play Grand Admiral Thrawn in the upcoming series, he will be the second voice actor from the animated shows to play the live-action counterpart of their character. Katee Sackhoff had voiced Bo-Katan Kryze in Star Wars: The Clone Wars before she portrayed the live-action version of the character in The Mandalorian Season 2.

It is important to point out that Lars Mikkelsen's casting in the Ahsoka Tano series has not yet been officially announced by Disney and Lucasfilm. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
