WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for The Blacklist season 8 episode 3. Read at your own risk.
The Blacklist season 8 episode 4 will focus on Elizabeth "Liz" Keen. The episode is titled after Megan Boone's character, which implies that her storyline will be at the center of everything that's about to transpire. There are a lot of questions about her, and some will be given answers.
The Blacklist season 8 episode 4 will address whether or not Liz is the second person on the list. Previous speculations suggest that Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader) would be the first, mostly because his own self has been his worst enemy.
However, there is a hint that Liz could be listed as number one all along. After all, she is going on the darker path -- especially after witnessing how Red killed her mother, Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins). She wants to seek revenge, and she is now determined to take her former partner down.
Over the past years, there have been a lot of questions as to who's the number one Blacklister. If Liz is, indeed, the first person on the list, that will solve the series' mystery. However, there is a possibility that putting her name on the top list was just part of a bigger plan.
Based on what happened in episode 3, Red told Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) that they should put Liz's name as number 1 on the list. It seems like the latter agreed with it, and more things may unfold in The Blacklist season 8 episode 4.
For now, Liz is the most dangerous person to Red, and he considers her as a huge threat. Despite that, he has no plan of killing her -- and he's even doing whatever he can to protect her. The problem, however, is that she wanted to find out the truth about him. She won't stop until she gets the answers that she wants.
The Blacklist season 8 episode 4 will continue to follow what happened in the third episode, "16 Ounces." Red saw how his team cleaners wrapped up Katarina's dead body and asked Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq) if killing her was a mistake.
While Dembe told him that it wasn't a mistake, he also made it clear that "it was wrong." Liz was mad that Red killed Katarina -- even after asking him not to kill her mother. After that, she stormed out, took her fake passport, and went into a motel.
Later on, Liz received a voicemail from Katarina. It documented her final moment before Red killed her. Then, she met up with Cooper and told him she has evidence that Red killed her mother. The third episode ended with Red and Cooper coming up with a plan to protect Liz from herself.
The Blacklist season 8 episode 4 airs on Friday, Jan. 29, on NBC.
