WARNING: This article contains some spoilers for the sixth episode of NCIS season 18. Read at your own risk.

Fans may need to wait for a while as NCIS season 18 episode 7 won't be airing next week on CBS. Despite the short hiatus, the network shared some details on what's coming ahead for everyone. Here is what viewers can expect in "The First Day."

The synopsis of NCIS season 18 episode 7 notes that the team will investigate the murder case of a Navy officer. He was killed while driving home a recently-released inmate. There'll be a lot of action-packed scenes for Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the rest.

At the same time, Gibbs will help Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) deals with his trauma. He could offer and advice and show some of his vulnerable sides to assure the latter that he's not alone with whatever is going on with him right now.

Apart from the emotional stories, NCIS season 18 episode 7 also picks up where episode 6 left off. The story of Tobias Fornell (Joe Spano) was given a proper conclusion in "1mm," but some of the events that happened here left an impact on certain characters.

For instance, Gibbs shot one of his beloved agents, Timothy McGee (Sean Murray). He did this to save his life, but the incident put the latter in a near-death experience. This will play out in the next few episodes, and it could impact their relationship in a significant way.

Meanwhile, Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham) and Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) shared another romantic moment in episode 6. They were locked up together while investigating a certain case, and the situation further fuelled their romance.

In NCIS season 18 episode 7, Bishop and Torres might talk about what happened to them while they were locked up in explosive prison. They were very close to admitting their feelings for each other, though it's clear that they're both holding back.

The two were about to make a romantic confession, but that didn't happen. They were distracted when some men showed up and held them at gunpoint. The situation leaves them fighting for their life rather than admitting their feeling. The good thing is that Gibbs arrived on time and rescued them.

As for the off-and-on scheduling of the police procedural drama, CarterMatt noted that CBS may want to stretch the current installment until the spring. Another reason is due to the COVID-19 pandemic as it hard for everyone to film more episodes amidst the health crisis.

NCIS season 18 episode 7 will be arriving on Tuesday, Feb. 9, on CBS.
