Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) is back to work in NCIS season 18 episode 7. He was shot by Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) during the premiere and the reason was revealed in the sixth episode. Now, it seems like he recovered and working alongside his boss again.

Some of the preview photos of NCIS season 18 episode 7 featured McGee and Gibbs in the office and working on something. The biggest question is how Murray's character recovered, given that he was left in a bad shape in the previous episode.

As per CarterMatt, there could be a time jump in next week's episode, which is titled "The First Day." Other photos also showed Gibbs wearing a mask, suggesting that the story is now set in the present-day timeline. This indicates that the police procedural takes on the pandemic storyline, as well.

Now, it would be interesting to see how the two will interact after what happened. Gibbs shot McGee -- but he did it to save his beloved agent's life. But, even though his intentions were good, his actions could significantly impact their relationship.

Elsewhere in NCIS season 18 episode 7, the team will be investigating the murder case of a Navy officer. This man was killed while he's driving home an inmate who was recently-released in jail. While taking on this matter, Gibbs also helps Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) dealing with his trauma.

Gibbs may offer some advice on what Palmer is currently going through. He could show some of his vulnerabilities to assure the latter that he'll get through it. There could be emotional stories that will be tackled in this particular storyline.

NCIS season 18 episode 7 will also continue some storylines left in episode 6. For instance, Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham) shared a romantic moment. They were locked up together during an investigation, but the situation further sparked their romance.

Torres and Bishop may talk about what happened to them when they were in explosive prison. The two were about to admit their feelings for each other -- but they chose to hold back. They were close to a romantic confession, but that didn't happen as some men showed up and held them at gunpoint.

Torres and Bishop weren't able to admit their feelings as they fought for their life instead. The good thing is that Gibbs arrived just in time and he successfully rescued the two. Now that they're out of the dangerous situation, the two might continue their conversation.

NCIS season 18 episode 7 is slated to air on Tuesday, Feb. 9, on CBS.
