A Pennsylvania man who was allegedly part of the siege of the U.S. Capitol was turned in to the authorities by his former girlfriend, who said she was called a "moron" in text messages, news outlets reported Friday.

The man was arguing with the woman online when he called her a "moron."

"If you can't see the election was stolen, you're a moron," Insider quoted Richard Michetti as saying in a text to his ex-girlfriend, based on a criminal complaint. "The vote was fraud and (former U.S. President Donald) Trump won but they won't audit the votes."

She then alerted the Federal Bureau of Investigation that her ex-boyfriend was involved in the assault on the Capitol. He was arraigned on Tuesday, the report said.

Michetti faces charges of "entering a restricted building, violent entry and disorderly conduct" on Capitol grounds, including obstruction of Congress. A warrant says a hotel receipt proves Michetti was in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6.

Michetti's ex-girlfriend also provided the FBI with videos a day after the riot. She also identified him in other images that appear to show him inside the Capitol building.

He is the latest person to face criminal charges for his alleged participation in the unrest that resulted in the death of one Capitol police officer and left scores of others wounded. Charges have been filed against more than 200 others who have been accused of taking part in the insurrection.

Michetti also allegedly bragged about breaching the Capitol. "We stormed the building, they held us back with spray and teargas and paintballs."

He allegedly justified his actions, saying Biden's election win was "tyranny" and "fraud." He did not enter a plea but if found guilty of the charges, he faces about 20 years in federal detention.
