Criminal Minds revival has been ordered at Paramount+. The police procedural crime drama aired on CBS for 15 years before officially ending with season 15 in February 2020. The series became a rating hit for the network and one of the most-watched cable shows throughout its run.

Since Criminal Minds revival was just announced, only a few details were known about it. But, according to a recent report from TVLine, it will follow a season-long story rather than focusing on the case-of-the week -- something that's been seen most in the series.

This time, the members of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) will only track a singular case. It's interesting to see how each of them takes son this while tackling their personal struggles at the same time. Right now, however, it is unknown what would be the certain case they have to solve.

Criminal Minds revival will follow a singular case, which means some of the events that transpired in the official series finale won't likely continue. The show ended with a two-part episode and it dives back into its past 15-year-long-run on CBS -- featuring the early days of the BAU members.

The series became successful and spawned a media franchise, with several spin-offs being made: Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. In addition, a South Korean adaptation was released and a video game based on the police procedural crime drama.

Meanwhile, there is a plan to bring back a "mix of legacy characters and new ones" in the upcoming Criminal Minds revival. Hence, fans will see familiar and new faces coming on board once the latest batch of episodes arrived on Paramount+.

The original cast consists of seven characters: Mandy Patinkin's Jason Gideon, Thomas Gibson's Aaron Hotchner, Lola Glaudini's Elle Greenaway, Shemar Moore's Derek Morgan, Matthew Gray Gubler's Spencer Reid, A. J. Cook's Jennifer Jareau, and Kirsten Vangsness's Penelope Garcia.

However, the series underwent changes and several original cast members were replaced. The new additions include Paget Brewster's Emily Prentiss, Joe Mantegna's David Rossi, Rachel Nichols' Ashley Seaver, Jeanne Tripplehorn's Alex Blake, and Jennifer Love Hewitt's Kate Callahan.

At the moment, nothing is officially confirmed as to when Criminal Minds revival will arrive. The show is in the early stages of development, leaving some things unclear. The official release date won't be announced anytime soon given that production has not started as of yet.
