Netflix recently dropped the first trailer and revealed the official release date of The Way of the Househusband. The new anime adaptation is based on the 2018 original manga series by Kousuke Oono. It was first announced on the streaming platform last Fall but only a few details were known at the time.

During the Netflix Anime Festival, it was confirmed that The Way of the Househusband will be adapted into an original net animation (ONA) anime series. Chiaki Kon will serve as the director, while Susumu Yamakawa pens the script. The series is produced by J.C.Staff.

Now, it was confirmed that the anime adaptation is set to premiere on Thursday, April 8, worldwide on Netflix. The first look at the series was also unveiled, with the trailer teasing what fans can expect. Reportedly, the new show is one of the most anticipated releases on the streaming platform.

The Ways of the Househusband was initially published as five-chapter limited series in the online manga magazine, Kurage Bunch, in Japan. But then, the series gained popularity following its release and was serialized as an on-going series.

In February 2019, Viz Media acquired the rights to release an English-language translation and the first volume was published in September 2019. Then, in December 2019, a live-action promotional video adapting scenes from the manga was produced to commemorate the 1.2 million copies in print.

Meanwhile, Kenjiro Tsuda will be voicing the titular husband, Tatsu. He previously brought the character to life through a live-action TV series, which aired in 2020. Other confirmed cast includes Shizuka Itou as Tatsu's wife, Miku, and Kazuyuki Okitsu as Tatsu's former lackey, Masa.

According to the description of The Way of the Househusband, it is a day in the life of an average househusband -- who happens to be the legendary yakuza known as the "Immortal Dragon." However, he leaves everything behind to become an everyday househusband.

He walked away from his gangster life, but doing so isn't that easy. He's the fiercest member of the yakuza and left countless underworld legends in his wake. He is the Immortal Dragon but he disappeared one day to travel another path -- which is doing households, instead.

The synopsis of The Way of the Househusband notes that Tatsu retired from his crimes and become a househusband to support his wife, Miku. It depicts comedic scenarios where it showed Tatsu's work as a househusband as opposed to his intimidating appearance and personality.
