Netflix has recently announced that DOTA: Dragon's Blood is officially happening. The streaming platform confirmed they're working with Valve to produce the animated series based on the popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game, DOTA 2.

DOTA: Dragon's Blood is a fantasy-adventure anime series arriving next month on Netflix. The upcoming show is created by Ashley Miller, known for his work on the movies X-Men: First Class and Thor. Studio Mir, which is working on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, will produce the animated program.

According to Miller, fans will love how they imagined the DOTA 2 world universe. The animated series is going to deliver an "epic, emotional, and adult-oriented story" of some favorite characters. He added that he's grateful to Valve for supporting their creative ambitions.

Fans of the popular MOBA game were delighted when Netflix dropped the trailer of the animated series, which also announced the official release date. It was confirmed that DOTA: Dragon's Blood will drop all of its eight episodes on the streaming platform on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

The story follows the renowned Dragon Knight and adventurer Davion, who's determined to wipe the scourge from the face of the world. Eventually, he was entangled in the events that he never knew possible after encountering an eldwurm and the noble princess Mirana, who's doing her secret mission.

At the moment, the characters of DOTA: Dragon's Blood haven't been revealed. Fans may learn more about them in the coming weeks, along with the voice cast. Also, a few more teasers might be unveiled prior to its official release.

As mentioned, the animated series is based on DOTA 2. The MOBA game was developed and published by Valve. It takes place inside the arena, wherein two teams consisting of five members compete against each other to destroy the opposing team's "Ancient" while also defending their own.

Players also know that in the game, Dragon Knight fights the legendary dragon known as Slyrak. After defeating him, he absorbs his blood and gains the ability to be a dragon and breathe fire himself. Yet, it remains to be seen whether such battles will be featured in the anime series.

DOTA 2 was released in 2013, which is a sequel to Valve's original Defense Of The Ancient (DOTA). The MOBA game has since become one of the leading online games around the world, hosting millions of daily players. Now, fans were excited to see what DOTA: Dragon's Blood brings to the screen.
