Demon Slayer season 2 is officially happening. The animated series is based on the popular manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotouge. The story follows Tanjiro Kamado, whose family was killed by a demon and his sister is transformed into one. This event has changed his life forever.

Demon Slayer season 2 will still center on Tanjiro Kamado's storyline. The animated series arrived in the United States in 2019 and gained worldwide viewers following its release on Netflix. When season 1 concluded, an animated film followed, titled Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train.

Fans were excited to see what's coming in the next chapter now that the second season is confirmed. No official release date has been set as of this writing. But, the first trailer was dropped recently and it teased a 2021 premiere date.

The clip of Demon Slayer season 2 showed a glimpse of what happened following the events in the movie sequel. The next chapter will be set in the Entertainment District or the Yoshiwara red-light district, where "'men, women, bluff, desire and love' swirl."

The Entertainment District arc is one of the essential plots in the story since this is where the shift in action begins. It sees Tanjiro and Nezuko unlocking new powers, more great moments from Zenitsu and Inosuke, and the arrival of a compelling villain duo.

The story will continue to follow Tanjiro and his crew. This time, they'll be paired with Tengen Azui, a Hashira member who was also featured in the first trailer of Demon Slayer season 2. He needs Tanjiro's help to locate the whereabouts of his missing wives and teams.

The trailer featured most of the characters during the first run of the animated season, as well. But, new faces are also set to appear, with a sinister-looking woman can be seen in the clip. It seems like the character is one of the important figures in the district.

It remains to be seen whether this mysterious woman will be a new villain or a new ally. The latest chapter will also be different from the first installment. In season 1, the story was mostly set in the wild -- but the characters moved in the urban areas this time around.

At the moment, the official release date of Demon Slayer season 2 hasn't been set. The trailer, however, teased that the new chapter will arrive in 2021. Then, the second installment may come out in the latter half of the year on Netflix.
