Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy will be the latest addition of the Seven in The Boys season 3. The character has been mentioned in the previous installment, particularly by Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) to keep the Seven's leader, Homelander (Antony Starr), in line.
Now, the new photos teased a glimpse of Soldier Boy's costume in the upcoming The Boys season 3. One of the pictures showed the character arriving at the premiere of Dawn of the Seven, a film starring the superheroes of the group.
While the look might still change, the costume seems to be departing from the source material. The color scheme was maintained, but the general look of the wardrobe has been altered. It is more in line with the looks of The Deep (Chace Crawford) and A-Train (Jessie T. Usher).
This isn't the first time the series made alterations to the source material. For instance, Stormfront (Aya Cash) was changed significantly -- especially in terms of gender to tell a more modern story. In addition, Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), who will be a huge part of the next chapter, was also updated.
Hence, it wouldn't be surprising in Soldier Boy will be presented differently in The Boys season 3. Series creator Eric Kripke, who worked with Ackles in The CW's Supernatural, hasn't been sharing too much information about the character.
Yet, Kripke teased that Soldier Boy is like the "John Wayne" of the superhero world and more things about him will be revealed as his story unfolds. In a past interview with Variety, the series creator also noted that those who are expecting the character as a good guy will be disappointed.
He is said to be the "Homelander before Homelander," especially since he comes from a different era. Soldier Boy has got ego and ambition and he views things differently because he is from a different time. He isn't also the recreation of Stormfront, who departed in the second season.
In the comics, Soldier Boy is the leader of the Payback -- a lesser version to the Seven. The group consists of Eagle the Archer, Tek Knight, Crimson Countess, Swatto, and Stormfront. In The Boys season 3, he will be part of Homelander's team and a clash between them may arise due to their different opinions.
The Boys season 3 has no official release date as of this writing. While waiting for the new installment, the first two seasons are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
