The Patrick Star Show has been officially ordered at Nickelodeon. This is the second SpongeBob SquarePants spin-off series as the franchise expands its story. The upcoming animated show, which will be produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, drops its 13 episodes this summer.

The Patrick Star Show features the younger version of the titular character and the rest of his family. The family-style sitcom will be navigating Patrick's surreal imagination and wild whims, which often caused frequent disruptions. Bill Fagerbakke will once again voice the character.

According to the official description, the spin-off follows the titular character living at home with his family. He is hosting his own show for the neighborhood and turned his bedroom into a television. His little sister Squidina is working behind the scene to make sure his brother's program runs smoothly.

His parents, Bunny and Cecil, and his grandfather, GrandPat, are also supporting Patrick in their own hilariously absurd ways. The family's unpredictable actions often interfere with Patrick's TV show. Still, his "bizarre life always makes for great television."

The Patrick Star Show will also feature other characters from the flagship animated series. That means Tom Kenny is joining as SpongeBob SquarePants, Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward Tentacles, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, and Mr. Lawrence as Plankton.

President of Nickelodeon Animation Ramsey Naito said that Nickelodeon dives deeper into the Bikini Bottom. She noted that the upcoming spin-off will be looking into the younger years of the titular character and his family with a "sitcom only he could imagine up."

Ramsey also said that The Patrick Star Show will be the second original spin-off that allows them to expand their reach. The latest animated series will deliver new stories and will connect to the audience around the world who loves the characters.

The show gets the green light after the first spin-off, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years, debuted on the Paramount+. The franchise increases the kids and family genre of Nickelodeon, which includes Star Trek: Prodigy, Blue's Clues & You, and PAW Patrol.

The series is co-executive produce by Jennie Monica, Vincent Waller, and Marc Ceccarelli. It is being developed by SVP of Animation Development at Nickelodeon, Claudia Spinelli, while production is being overseen by Vice President of Current Series, Animation at Nickelodeon, Kelley Gardner.

The official release date of The Patrick Star Show hasn't been revealed at the moment, but it is expected to arrive this coming summer.
