Prince Harry might have caused a rift with the royal family but his mother, Princess Diana, would have been proud for speaking out against the institution.

According to royal commentators Molly Mulshine and Christina Garibaldi, Harry's criticisms of The Firm were similar to what his mother did and she would have agreed that he did what felt right for his family.

Speaking on their podcast show Royally Us Weekly, the royal commentators said that Diana would be happy to see Harry "standing up for himself" because she also stood up to the royal family when she felt aggrieved. In a way, the commentators believe that this was Harry "avenging" his mother and confirming what she felt when she was also involved in a rift with her in-laws.

Harry revealed in the interview with Oprah Winfrey that he felt his mother throughout this whole process of stepping back from his royal duties and feuding with his brother, Prince William, and father, Prince Charles. The Duke of Sussex also said that he could not imagine what his mother went through because she was all alone when she spoke against the royal family while he had his wife, Meghan Markle, by his side.

In 1995, Diana also did a controversial interview where she revealed that her husband, Prince Charles, has an affair with then-Camilla Parker-Bowles. Diana also confessed to her own affairs as her royal marriage to Charles had been crumbling for some time.

The royal couple divorced a year after her explosive interview with the permission of Queen Elizabeth. However, they have been living separately for a few years before their marriage was officially dissolved. A year after her divorce, Diana died in a tragic car accident in Paris.

Harry said that if his mother were still alive today, she would have been angry about what's going on because all she ever wanted was for her sons to be happy with their lives. The duke also said that he's disappointed with his father, who cut him off when they decided to step back from their royal work.

Meanwhile, the royal did not forget his mother on Mother's Day and had sent flowers to be laid down on her grave at the Spencer family estate in the U.K. Harry and Meghan have been living in the United States since March 2020 but he is expected to return home to London over the summer for a number of family activities, including the unveiling of the Princess of Wales' statue at Kensington Palace with William.
