There have been rumors that The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 2 might happen at some point. The first movie was released in theaters back in 2015 but no official news about the sequel comes after that. Still, some speculated that the second movie will happen with Henry Cavill reprising his role as Napoleon Solo.

In a recent report, one insider claims that The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 2 is in early development and Cavill will be playing his previous character in the first movie. Napoleon Solo is a professional thief who eventually became a CIA agent.

But then, the same source added that one cast member is not coming back in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 2. Reportedly, Armie Hammer, who plays the character of KGB operative Illya Kuryakin, won't be making an appearance in the sequel.

According to the insider, the producers were considering replacing Hammer. His character is working alongside Napoleon Solo and they team up together to save the world. While the final decision hasn't been made, the source noted that it's possible Illya Kuryakin will be replaced by another character.

Back in 2017, Hammer was, reportedly, the one pressuring producer and writers in making a sequel. However, there are no confirmed updates that a sequel will happen especially since most of the cast members have other projects -- including Cavill's The Witcher on Netflix.

Meanwhile, the plot of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 2 is unknown if ever the sequel happens. The first movie was set at the height of the Cold War in 1963, where it follows CIA Napoleon Solo and KGB Ilya Kuryakin. The two were forced to work together having the same goal in stopping the Vinciguerras' plans.

While there's bad blood between them, the CIA and the KGB set aside their hostilities toward each other and teamed up to stop the evildoers in their tracks. However, their only lead is the daughter of a missing German scientist and they need to find him to prevent a global catastrophe.

The first movie is directed by Guy Ritchie, who also served as a writer along with Lionel Wigram. The film is based on the MGM television series of the same name back in 1964, which was created by Sam Rolfe and Norman Felton. It was released on August 14, 2015, in the United States by Warner Bros.

For now, fans and viewers have to watch out for more announcements to find out if The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 2 is, indeed, happening.
