Samantha Markle, the older sister of Meghan Markle, doesn't think Prince Harry should be working as a commissioner of the Aspen Institute, which will conduct a six-month study on misinformation on the internet.
The 56-year-old said that her royal brother-in-law has to "get a grip" on the truth first before he joins the commission since he and his wife have made false claims themselves. In an interview with Newstalk ZB radio show, Samantha accused Harry and Meghan of spreading an "avalanche of misinformation" when they sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey. Thus, she believes that the Duke of Sussex is not in a position to join a study that will analyze the impact of misinformation among social media users.
Samantha also took aim at Meghan after she told Winfrey that she doesn't have a relationship with her half-sister. The Duchess of Sussex said that she "grew up an only child" and the last time she saw Samantha in the flesh was nearly 20 years ago.
But in February 2021, Samantha released her memoir, The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister Part 1, detailing her relationship with the Duchess of Sussex. Samantha wrote that Meghan and their father, Thomas Markle, had such a special bond before. They were inseparable as dad and daughter and Meghan had been the apple of their dad's eye as the youngest. Thus, it was a shame that their relationship turned sour after she married a prince.
Samantha claimed in the book that the last time she saw her sister was right after Meghan's divorce from Trevor Engelson, her first husband, in 2013. However, Samantha said her last meaningful conversation with Meghan was in 2015 in Canada, over the phone.
A few months later, she learned of Harry and Meghan's relationship from Thomas. After that, her sister has not taken her calls anymore.
The older Markle sibling also said that she and her sister even have a photo together, which has been making rounds on the internet when Meghan started dating Harry. This photo was taken during Samantha's graduation day in 2008. She was holding her diploma in the photo, which had the family name "Markle" printed on it. Samantha had to mention this as well as she was previously accused of capitalizing on her sister's popularity because she, allegedly, changed her family name. She used to go by the name Samantha Grant.
Samantha has continued to talk to the press as a way to get to Meghan who has ceased all contact with her side of the family. Sadly, the older sister said that she doesn't think Meghan will patch things up with Thomas anymore.
