Netflix surprised the public upon announcing their anime series offerings for 2021. Following this year's AnimeJapan virtual convention, the platform revealed that 40 new titles would premiere, including two originals, and one of which is Record of Ragnarok.

As stated, the series will officially make its debut this June. Apart from revealing the timeline, the streaming giant dropped the official trailer, as well, which features the summarized scope of the material, lasting for nearly two minutes.

Alongside the trailer, a new poster, also, made its way to the eyes of the fans and followers. Collider said that it shows Adam facing the almighty Zeus, seemingly portraying the upcoming "battle of the ages."

The publication continued that Masao Okubo will direct the Record of Ragnarok. This will serve as his directorial debut after working for the reboot of Thundercats, as well as Red Baron.

The original 2017 manga series of the same name, which is a creation of Ajichika, Takumi Fukui, and Shinya Umemura, will be the source material of the anime. Graphinica, a Japanese studio, will work on the animation, while Warner Bros. Japan for the overall production.

Comic Book Resources noted that the company has already announced the production in the past. The announcement at AnimeJapan became the first public report, confirming that the Record of Ragnarok will be an original material on Netflix.

The same publication said that the anime will center its plot around the 13 "one-on-one battles between gods and mortals." This comes after the Gods' Council determines that humanity is no longer worth preserving, noting that it should go extinct.

But, before this happens, valkyrie Brunhild proposes an opportunity for humanity to redeem themselves. The proposal lies on a group of 13 warriors from different parts of history battling for redemption against an "eclectic" group of 13 gods from various religions and cultures across the globe.

Variety released a similar report, detailing what Netflix announced during the recent expo in Tokyo. As revealed, the Record of Ragnarok will star the voices of Sawashiro Miyuki, Seki Tomokazu, Takagi Wataru, Kurosawa Tomoyo, and Midorikawa Hikaru.

Apart from this, the streaming platform, also, provided the public with information regarding the other upcoming anime titles. These include The Way of the Househusband, which will premiere on April 8, Yasuke on April 29, and Eden, which is another original material, premiering on May 27.

Netflix, also, teased their Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness project. While details have remained scarce, the anime will, reportedly, drop on the library later this year.
