Peter Phillips, Queen Elizabeth's eldest grandson through Princess Anne, was questioned by the police after they received a report that he was in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and likely breached the lockdown restrictions.

As a resident of Gloucestershire, in his mother's estate in Gatcombe Park, Phillips's 460-mile trip to Scotland raised questions. It was alleged that he was visiting a married woman with two children at her home, and his Range Rover was spotted at the front of her house.

Scotland has had its borders closed since the spike in COVID-19 cases after the holidays. Locals alerted the cops of Phillips visit because there is a 10-day quarantine rule in place.

However, Phillips told the Scotland police that this was a business trip and not a personal visit. A police spokesperson confirmed that the officers who went to check up on the queen's grandson "found no breaches of legislation."

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for XL Medical, where Phillips works, confirmed that he was on an official work trip. The company provides rapid COVID-19 tests in the United Kingdom.

According to News.Com.Au, Phillips knew the woman because she was the friend of his sister, Zara Phillips Tindall. She and Tindall went to Gordonstoun together, and she was at the Tindall couple's wedding in 2011.

Apparently, Phillips met the woman again during a school reunion. Reports further cited that she is separated from her husband and has two children.

Phillips announced his separation from his wife, Autumn, in February 2020. However, the ex-couple still live in the same house for the sake of their children, Savannah, 10, and Isla, 7.

In a statement, the ex-couple said that they want to raise their daughters together and would remain settled at their Gloucestershire property, despite the changes in their family dynamics. Phillip's wife is from Canada and could not physically travel abroad because of the pandemic.

Sources said that the ex-couple had had plans to separate for some time before making the official announcement. Their first priority, however, is their kids.

The Phillips family is just across the house of the Princess Royal, which had been Queen Elizabeth's gift to her only daughter when she married her first husband, Mark Phillips, in 1976. Tindall also lives nearby in the same estate with her three children and husband, Mike Tindall.

Phillips is currently the 16th in line to the British throne. His ranking will drop down to 17 once Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's daughter is born in the summer.
