Authorities arrested former Italian mafia member Marc Feren Claude Biart in the Dominican Republic after years on the run after he blew his cover by showing his unmistakable tattoos in cooking videos with his wife on YouTube, 9News reported on Tuesday.

The 53-year old Biart led a low-profile life in Boca Chica with the local Italian expat community considering him and his wife as "foreigners" and with locals just knowing Biart as "Marc," reports said.

The videos never showed his face, but it was his distinctive tattoos that gave him away, authorities said. Detectives from Interpol helped scour the internet for sites for any trace of Biart before they tracked him on his you YouTube cooking channel.

Biart had been on the run since 2014 when Italian prosecutors ordered his arrest for allegedly smuggling cocaine into the Netherlands on behalf of the Cacciola clan of the 'Ndrangheta mafia, according to Daily Mail.

Authorities consider the 'Ndrangheta one of the world's most powerful organized criminal organizations because it controls majority of the cocaine being smuggled into Europe.

The 'Ndrangheta is based in Italy's Calabria region. Its leader, 66-year old Luigi Mancuso, is known as "The Uncle".

The crime group has extended its reach across major parts of the globe, and it has long overtaken the Cosa Nostra of Sicily as Italy's largest Mafia organization.

A number of other notorious 'Ndrangheta mafia members have been arrested recently, including infamous former Pelle'ndrina mob member Francesco Pelle, who police nabbed in Portugal on Monday, the Guardian reported.
