A royal insider has named Princess Anne as the person Prince Harry and Meghan Markle accused of being a racist in their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Lady Colin Campbell, a British socialite, claimed that a royal insider told her Harry and Meghan were referring to Princess Anne though they refused to name the royal to Winfrey because it will "damage their reputation." But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might have misunderstood the Princess Royal as she had expressed her concerns about the latter's suitability as a royal from the start. The insider insisted that Anne's concern had nothing to do with Meghan being mixed race.

In her podcast Chatting with Lady C, Campbell revealed that the concerns stemmed from the differences in culture, which Meghan might not appreciate or respect. Anne, the monarch's only daughter and the one of the hardest working royals, felt Meghan was unsuitable for the "country and for the job," since her background is miles different from Harry's.

When Harry informed his wife of these discussions, Campbell said that the Duchess of Sussex "weaponized" the conversation and decided that they were referring to her race and skin color. Campbell said that Anne's realistic concerns turned out to be true, now that the pair have decided to live a different life in America.

The socialite has always been critical of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, especially Meghan. She released the book Meghan and Harry: The Real Story in mid-2020, where she did not mince words against the Sussex pair.

In it, she claimed that Meghan "jettisoned British traditions that didn't suit her" and labeled Harry as pathetic for indulging his wife. The book also had a chapter on "Prince Archie," detailing Meghan’s ambition even before she became part of the royal family. She claimed Meghan is a "very destructive and divisive operator" who won't have qualms about leaving damage for as long as she has fame and fortune.

In another interview, Campbell called out Meghan’s claims of racism as preposterous because the British royal family has African lineage. She said that due to "constant intermarriage," there have been two queens with African blood -- Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III, and Philippa of Hainault, the wife of King Edward III.

Campbell also said that she has met Princess Anne a few times at social events but they are not friends. She described the Princess Royal as intelligent, modest, experienced and sensible.
