Those Who Wish Me Dead is an upcoming neo-Western survival action thriller film starring Angelina Jolie. The actress is set to play the role of the smokejumper veteran Hannah Faber, who's trying to cope with a loss she failed to prevent while doing her job.
Those Who Wish Me Dead follows Hannah eventually crossing paths with Connor (Finn Little), a 12-year-old boy who's trying to escape from two assassins. He's on the run from the Blackwells, Jack (Aidan Gillen) and Patrick (Nicholas Hoult), the father-and-son duo who murdered the young boy's father.
Connor witnessed how Jack and Patrick killed his father near a large national forest. The two are determined to silence the young boy who, then, meets Hannah and offered him shelter in her tower. To cover their track, the assassins set fire in the forest.
Hannah must protect Connor from the deadly blaze that coming after them and must outwit the assassins who will do everything to kill the young boy. The first official looks of Those Who Wish Me Dead have been released just recently, featuring Jolie and Little.
Warner Bros. dropped two images, putting Hannah and Connor in the spotlight. In the first photo, Hannah can be seen wearing her complete firefighter suit while battling the dangerous fire. The second picture showed her and Connor moving in the dark and looking intently at what's in front of them.
The official trailer was also released showing Jolie's Hannah in intense action. The clip featured the character coping with her traumatic past before she met Connor. The two will stick together while trying to escape the raging fire and the dangerous assassins.
Those Who Wish Me Dead is Jolie's first major project on big screens since Maleficent: Mistress of Evil in 2019. Aside from starring in the movie, the actress is also set to star in Marvel's long-awaited Eternals, which is slated to be released in the fall of 2021.
Meanwhile, the film also stars Jon Bernthal, Tyler Perry, Medina Senghore Jake Weber, James Jordan, and Tory Kittles. The film is based on the 2014 novel of the same name written by Michael Koryta. It is directed by Taylor Sheridan, with the screenplay by Sheridan, Koryta, and Charles Leavitt.
Those Who Wish Me Dead will be released on May 14, 2021, in the United States. The movie is one of the many projects of Warner Bros. debuting in both theaters and streaming platform HBO Max. More details will likely be dropped in the coming weeks as the film is nearing its official premiere schedule.
