Brothers Rick and Marty Lagina and the rest of the team have been searching for the Money Pit through the early run of The Curse of Oak Island season 8. Along the way, they uncovered a lot of clues about the valuable treasure and also found more evidence linking the mysterious island to the Knights Templar.

In the recently-aired episode of The Curse of Oak Island season 8, the fellowship unearthed mysterious ancient tools and other artifacts that could belong to the Knights Templar. Their focus remains in the swamp as they believe that an ancient galleon ship might be buried beneath the muds.

The team tried to dig further using Billy Gerhardt's digger. However, the more they dig the swamp, the more water kept rushing in. They figured that they should install a cofferdam to prevent the water from rushing in. The problem is that they must wait for the Spring before digging up again.

Despite this disappointment, Gary Drayton uncovered more artifacts in the previous episode of The Curse of Oak Island season 8. Using his metal detector, he was able to locate an iron bar, which he suspected a ringbolt. Yet, archaeologist Aaron Taylor noted that the object likely came off a sailing ship.

Aaron added that the object has undergone intense burning, suggesting that the galleon ship was burned before being sunk in the swamp. Aside from the iron bar, Gary also found a wooden carpenter's tool -- which they assumed a stonemason's tool.

The team became more excited by this discovery, as the stonemasons might be connected to the Freemasons, who had their origins with the Knights Templar. Previously, the fellowship uncovered symbols associated with the Freemasons on the mysterious island.

They located triangles, crosses, and a letter G -- which could stand for "God or Grand architect." The team carbon-dated these items and Aaron said they were dated from 1632 to 1688. Everyone was shocked by this, as the artifacts were 160 years older before the Money Pit was first discovered.

This finding encouraged the team to search for more clues, and they called in theorist Philip Stevenson. The fellowship asked him more about the Knights Templar and informed them that they should go dig 40 feet down at a particular area on the eastern part of the island.

The current installment of the reality treasure-hunting show is nearing its ending, so the team will step up their game to locate the Money Pit and find more clues about the Knights Templar. Next week's episode is titled "Old Wharf's Tale," and it'll see the looking for answers surrounding the mysterious island.
