The Way of the Househusband season 2 is officially happening on Netflix. The animated series is based on Kousuke Oono's Japanese manga series of the same name. The first five episodes were released on the streaming service on April 8, 2021, and a second outing was confirmed shortly after that.
The Way of the Househusband season 2 becomes possible, mostly due to the success of the first season. The animated series became an immediate hit on Netflix and even made it to the top 10 list in different countries. Although it has been renewed, the release date remains unknown right now.
But, since the animated series was renewed faster, fans believe that the second installment is already in development even before season 1 hits Netflix. Some speculated that the next chapter will be dropped in the streaming service before 2021 ends, presumably between October to December.
Meanwhile, it is expected that all cast members are returning to The Way of the Househusband season 2. Kenjirou Tsuda will continue to voice the titular househusband, Tatsu, Shizuka Itou as Miku, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Masa, Atsuko Tanaka as Hibari Torii, Mao Ichimichi as Gin, and Yoshimasa Hosoya as Torajirou.
The animated series follows Tatsu, who was once a legendary member of Yakuza and known in the criminal underworld. He was able to defeat a rival gang by himself, only using a lead pipe. They called him the "Immortal Tatsu," and feared by both police officers and criminals.
However, Tatsu suddenly disappeared, and when he showed up again, he's trying to make an honest living for his wife, Miku. But then, being a househusband brings new challenges for him as he needs to contend with kitchen mishaps and dreaded supermarket sales.
The Way of the Househusband season 2 will continue to follow Tatsu's antics after retiring as the Yakuza boss. He is living his new life away from the criminal underworld, and each episode will bring new challenges for him as a househusband.
As for whether or not the second installment will be the last, nothing is confirmed at the moment. The first outing covered 26 chapters of the manga series, which currently consists of a total of 69 chapters. Thus, there's a chance a third and fourth season will also arrive on Netflix.
Just like season 1, The Way of the Househusband season 2 will be produced by J.C. Staff. The first installment is directed by Chiaki Kon, with scripts written by Susumu Yamakawa.
