Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) is dealing with a new, yet familiar challenge in the upcoming New Amsterdam season 3 episode 9. Titled "Disconnected," the storyline will see the doctor trying to solve a problem, something that most people in the real world can relate to: Broadband internet access.

In New Amsterdam season 3 episode 9, Max goes on a mission to deliver free broadband access. He knows how important the internet is in the hospital, so he'll try to figure out how to provide it for both patients and healthcare professionals.

His mission in delivering broadband access might also be in the rural areas. The people residing there don't usually get updates due to the lack of internet. The biggest issue for Max, however, is that he needs financial support which may not be entirely easy.

While trying to provide broadband access, Max must deal with another matter in New Amsterdam season 3 episode 9. The synopsis notes that Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims) will try to treat a young girl with a gunshot wound and it looks like the incident may uncover some secrets within the victim's family.

In the promo, the girl's father arrived at the hospital desperately seeking help as he carries his daughter with her body full of blood. He claimed that she got shot, and when Reynolds asked him what happened, he said it was a "drive-by" and he couldn't see it since it happened so fast.

However, during the operation, Reynolds found something odd. He, then, told Max that it wasn't a drive-by since the wound was close range. The tagline further teased that "what happened to this child is not what it seems." Clearly, there is something more behind it and the father might be hiding a secret.

As for what else viewers can expect in New Amsterdam season 3 episode 9, Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman) is going to deliver difficult news to her long-time patient. Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine), on the other hand, is proud of his patient's success but worried he's getting too close.

Iggy's storyline may continue moving forward with the next few episodes given that he tends to be too much involved in his patients' lives. Although he does this because he cares, he recognized that boundaries must be set since his actions could bring consequences on his career later on.

New Amsterdam season 3 episode 9 airs on Tuesday, April 27, on NBC.
