The Curse of Oak Island season 8 recently concluded its run on History Channel. The team further steps up their game in solving the mysteries surrounding the titular island, as well as uncovering the Money Pit. Their biggest challenge is that they have to race against time as winter approaches in Nova Scotia.

On Tuesday, May 4, The Curse of Oak Island season 8 dropped its final episode. The team is still on the quest to unearthing the valuable treasure chest which is believed to have been buried on the island many years ago. The focus remains on the swamp, where Billy Gerhardt saw a piece of wood.

The fellowship quickly believed that the wood came from the ship, which they suspected to have been sunk in the depth of the swamp. In addition, Rick Lagina and Doug Crowell found a trade weight -- which was was likely used to measure metals during the medieval era -- on the stone roadway.

In the final episode of The Curse of Oak Island season 8, the team gathered in the "War Room," where they discussed the work they've done this year and whether or not they'll proceed. They concluded that their effort was successful despite the limitations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

When it comes to their archaeological finds, the fellowship found 700 items -- which is twice the number they found in season 7. Then, they discussed the stone roadway and they believed that it was made to transport the Money Pit and that they're nearing the location of the treasure.

Previously, Dr. Ian Spooner claimed that there is a huge amount of silver buried in the area of the Money Pit. Martin Lagina admitted that he had thought of giving up on searching for the valuable items, but this particular finding convinced him to move forward.

Now that The Curse of Oak Island season 8 has ended, many were wondering if the reality treasure hunting show is coming back for another installment. At the moment, History Channel hasn't renewed or canceled the series and viewers may need to wait for a while.

But, based on how the current installment ended, there is a huge possibility that it is coming back for season 9. Moreover, the ratings have shown impressive figures and it could be an asset for History Channel. Reportedly, every episode approaches the 3 million mark, a good sign towards the renewal.
