Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) and Lea Dilallo's (Paige Spara) relationship is put to a test, once again, in The Good Doctor season 4 episode 16. Titled "Dr. Ted," this week's episode sees the couple facing troubles as the latter's pregnancy comes with complications.

The Good Doctor season 4 episode 16 will mainly focus on Lea's pregnancy and what the situation could mean for Shaun. In episode 15, she suddenly collapsed and it was revealed that she has gastrointestinal diabetes. Everyone at the hospital was alarmed, most especially her partner.

While Lea seems to be doing fine after collapsing, there is no guarantee that nothing is wrong with her pregnancy. In fact, Shaun and Dr. Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas) discussed the result of her latest ultrasound and it looks like there's a concern when it comes to her current condition.

In the sneak peek of The Good Doctor season 4 episode 16, Shaun wants to run a series of tests on Lea to make sure that nothing is wrong with her pregnancy. His instinct as a medical professional is kicking in and he wants to try every single test to ensure the safety of his girlfriend and his child.

The biggest challenge for Shaun, however, is allowing other doctors to handle Lea's case. Although he's eager to lead everything, others recognized that the situation is too personal for him and his judgment might be clouded. He could likely make a decision that may complicate the pregnancy even more.

In the promo of The Good Doctor season 4 episode 16, Claire informed Shaun that Lea may need to undergo surgery. It's apparent that he's struggling to balance his professional and personal life. He is determined to save his girlfriend and wants to help other doctors with the operation.

Yet, Dr. Audrey Lim (Christina Chang) advised Shaun that he's not allowed to be part of the surgery. Because of this, he went straight to Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff) and protested. At the end of the clip, Lea assured her boyfriend that there's nothing to worry about and everything will fine in the end.

Ever since Shaun learned about Lea's pregnancy, he began to view certain things differently. He becomes more concerned about kids, something that was shown when two young victims were shot in episode 15. He did everything he can and whatever is necessary just to save them.

The Good Doctor will be airing on Monday, May 10, on ABC.
