The Good Doctor season 4 episode 16 won't be arriving next week on ABC. The medical drama is taking a short hiatus and will be returning the following week. This particular episode, titled "Dr. Ted," will further test Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) and Lea Dilallo's (Paige Spara) relationship.

In The Good Doctor season 4 episode 16, Shaun and Lea may, perhaps, face the biggest test in their relationship. The latter's pregnancy, particularly, presents several challenges and the process won't be entirely easy for both of them.

As the synopsis of The Good Doctor season 4 episode 16 notes, Shaun is struggling with his role as Lea's partner when complications arise with his girlfriend's pregnancy. What makes the situation more complicated is that the former's instincts as a medical professional start to get in the way.

Lea's pregnancy complication is something that won't be easy to handle for Shaun. He wants the best for his child and his partner, but he knows that he needs to figure out the best approach in handling this matter. Yet, he may not let other doctors look into the problem as he wants to deal with it by himself.

Ever since Shaun found out that Lea is pregnant, he began to view several things from a different perspective. For instance, in episode 15, titled "Waiting," they dealt with two young gunshot victims and Highmore's character is determined to do whatever is necessary just to save them.

This time, his own child is involved and he'll do everything to make sure that the baby, as well as Lea, are both safe. But, one of the biggest problems here is that the complications is a tough case to handle and could present several challenges for Shaun.

In episode 15, Lea suddenly collapsed after testing for gastrointestinal diabetes -- and everyone at the hospital was alarmed because of this. Now, the promo of The Good Doctor season 4 episode 16 revealed that she may need to undergo surgery, as advised by Dr. Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas).

Shaun struggles to balance his professional and personal life. Determined to save the baby and Lea, he puts a surgical plan and ready to assist other doctors. However, Dr. Audrey Lim (Christina Chang) told him that he can't be on the surgery, and then he goes Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff) for help.

Shaun protested that everyone thinks he's emotional, but Lea assured him that it's alright to be scared. The clip also showed more romantic moments for the couple amidst the problems they're facing. This is just another problem for them and could make their relationship even stronger.

The Good Doctor season 4 episode 16 airs on Monday, May 10, on ABC.
