Akira Toriyama officially announced the coming of a new Dragon Ball Super movie on Goku Day. Despite the early leaks about the special news, fans still look forward to having it confirmed.

The news made every Otaku fans all over the world celebrate, knowing Goku and the rest of the gang would return on the big screen. To hype fans and the franchise even more, the mangaka teased that an unexpected character would appear in the new Dragon Ball Super movie.

According to Epic Dope, fans remain puzzled as to who this mysterious character will be. Will it be Frieza, Cell, or another Saiyan who will be introduced?

The upcoming film will be the second Dragon Ball Super movie after Dragon Ball Super: Broly's release in 2018. Compared to the first one, the new feature will have a different plot that will differ from any Dragon Ball universe.

Toriyama revealed he and the rest of the team who would work on it would visit some "unexplored territory" when it comes to its visual to gives fans a "different yet fantastic experience." After 30 years since the manga began, this plan is only befitting.

Sure, fans love nostalgia, but it is the best time to take Goku's story to a different path. From seeing a young Goku to his demise and return to life to visiting other universes, the possibilities for a new storyline are endless.

Sadly, Toriyama is yet to give more details about the new Dragon Ball Super movie's official plotline. The only thing known so far is that he will have a major involvement in making the movie, Coming Soon noted.

In his announcement, he said he would be "heavily leading" its story and "dialogue production" to create another fantastic movie just like the first one. The manga creator added he shouldn't talk a lot about its plot yet, but he revealed "some extreme and entertaining" bouts about the coming of an unexpected character.

He aims to give the audience an "amazing ride," so Toriyama hopes everyone will look forward to it. Dragon Ball Super: Broly perfectly delivered major nostalgia by featuring Goku, Vegeta, and Broly's fathers that brought everyone back to the '80s and '90s feels of the series, per IGN.

It still featured superb action-packed scenes, though, making the said film Funimation's biggest U.S. box opening in 2019. It earned a whopping more than $120 million in the box office worldwide, so there might be a high expectation for the second Dragon Ball Super movie, which is set to be out in 2022.
