NCIS season 18 finale is coming within two weeks on CBS, with the title "Rule 91." Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and investigative journalist Marcie Warren (Harmon's real-life wife, Pam Dawber) will be working together and they likely put themselves in danger in the process.
NCIS season 18 finale marks the final appearance of Warren in the police procedural drama. But, before her departure as a guest star, the series sets up a huge storyline for the character and Gibbs. The two landed in a dangerous situation and it might be hard for them to get out.
In addition, it seems like Gibbs is still suspended, given that he's working with Warren -- not with the team. As for what they're going to investigate, the two will be tracking down a killer on the loose. It's yet to be seen whether the department will be eventually involved in the investigation.
Perhaps, the biggest challenge for Gibbs and Warren in the NCIS season 18 finale is that they might need some protection. The killer may start going after them if they don't rely on the team. Hence, the special agent might be forced to ask for their help to ensure their safety.
Gibbs hasn't been working with the team for the past few episodes. He was suspended from his post due to his actions while on a mission out in the field and there's no clear indication whether or not he'll be joining the team soon. For now, he is teaming up with Warren because he wants to work on something.
One more episode is coming before the NCIS season 18 finale arrives. The penultimate is titled "Blown Away" and it will introduce Katrina Law as Agent Jessica Knight. She is the only surviving member of the Regional Enforcement Action Capabilities Training Team (REACT).
Jessica tries to figure out what happened to her colleagues, who were killed in a massive explosion. She's going to ask the team to help her solve the case. The character is described as someone who handles "daily high-risk operations with skill and precision" and also uses "high-tech body armor".
In some of the preview photos of the penultimate, Gibbs and his colleagues attend the funeral of the deceased members of the REACT, and this where they'll meet Jessica. There have been speculations that Law's character may be part of the team in the already-renewed season 19.
NCIS season 18 finale will be airing on Tuesday, May 25, on CBS.
